{One} Year

It all started a year ago.

My amazing little sister left for her LDS mission and I was lucky enough to "babysit" her camera. I loved it from day one! I've learned a lot from photo blogs, a few free online tutorials, a couple photography friends. I've googled everything one might want to know about DSLR, Photoshop, equipment, etc. I have a never ending wish list on Amazon full of lenses, cameras, tripods, reflectors, software.... It is an addiction. A good one I hope. This is my talent. It's not perfect, there is still much to learn and try. But, why? Why do I love photography? Everyday I watch my sweet little boy grow up. I hate it! Some day he is going to go to school, have a girlfriend, move out, go on a mission, get married, and forget to call his mom. And what will I do on those lonely, empty nesting days? I will scroll through my thousands (yes, thousands) of blue eyed, white haired boys and remember when he was tiny. When I let him struggle for just a minute while he was stuck between the fence and the slide so I could capture that memory. When he would follow me around with his camera and tell me "say cheese, mommy". When he was winy and I still loved him because he was mine.  And those are just from today!  There are a lot of memories I haven't captured. I wish I could get them all, but sometimes you have to put the camera aside and play potato heads, or race cars, or play duck duck goose. Little A, Gooey, Stinky, Babe, whatever I decide to call him today, he is my inspiration. He is why I love photography.

  1. He just keeps getting cuter and cuter! I'm glad you're pursuing this talent because I remember even your early pictures looked so polished and professional!
